Achieve Everything You Want - FOREVER!!!!

Here's a few tips for how to keep yourself on track
to achieve your goals this year.

Take a minute and assess how you're doing so far, now that
we're over a month into the year. Actually almost two
if you get down to the nitty gritty.

Remember, be brutally honest with yourself
when you assess how you're doing. Knowing
(and telling) the truth can set you FREE
and who else is going to be talking to you
about this. Probably just you, so be honest.

Once you've done that, I want to help you
take the next step.

I'm going to share with you three simple
tips for achieving everything you want to
achieve this year.

It might sound strange, but achieving your
goals isn't all that hard.

Sure, if you want to cure cancer or
something huge like that, it can be tough.
But most other goals you have in your
personal and business life aren't that big.

They might SEEM impossible, but they're
really not...as long as you keep these
tips in mind.

----------
TIP 1: Stick To Your Plan
----------

I can't tell you how important this is.

If you did the work to create a workable
plan like I suggested, just follow it!

For example, let's say you decided that
you would use video marketing to get
more patients while you sleep like I
told you to do in a previous post.

Your plan was to add a few
new patients or clients per week.

You'd be surprised at how few people will
actually stick to a plan like that.

It's a reasonable plan, and when you think
about it, it's not so hard to get it done.
But most people give up after a month (not
sure why that's such a common time period,
but it is).

Here's a practical way to STICK to your
plan. There are two steps.

The first step is deciding that you WILL
do it.

Imagine that.

I know that sounds insane, since your
problem might be that you're not doing it.
But listen, you have to lay down the law
for yourself.

Tell yourself that your future depends on
sticking to your plan. Then refuse to
compromise on it.

The next step is to kill the one thing
that gets you off track the
most...procrastination.

An easy way to kill procrastination is to
figure out which time of the day you work
best and schedule your work for that time.

I personally get the most done, whether it's
exercise or writing, or even doing my educational
videos and audios I sell, IN THE MORNING from
say 6 until 1 or 2 in the afternoon.

Get rid of the distractions and focus for
the one, two or three hours a day that you
need to keep yourself on track regarding
your plan for the year.

It's your PLAN so just do it. Write it down
put up a list to do, and just follow the plan.

Procrastination is awful, because it sort
of sneaks up on you. If you give in to it,
you'll find yourself letting time slip by
without making any progress at all.

That makes it easy to get discouraged,
which just makes the problem worse.

I've seen this in my own business several
times.

One time I can remember very well was just
a few years ago.

I was so insanely busy that I was pretty
much neglecting my plan one hundred
percent of the time. I was working IN my
practice not ON my practice. Not a good
thing.

The problem was, I had made too many
commitments to friends and patients.

I had promised to do promotions for them,
help them on projects and do other things.
It was crowding everything else out. I was
always helping everyone else and leaving my
stuff to the way side. By the time I got to "my"
work for the day, I was so tired that I couldn't
get anything done.

And if I worked on my stuff early, then I was
working ON it and not IN it and my business
would suffer. That's why when someone hires me
as their marketing coach at a minimum of $100
per hour I put everything into it I can because
I want them working IN it and me working ON it.

So I had to step back consciously and
refocus myself. You might have to do the
same.

The good news is that once I did refocus,
my progress took off.

And speaking of progress...

----------
TIP 2: Make Progress Every Day
----------

This is more a matter of discipline than
anything else.

Albert Einstein reportedly said that
anything you study for 15 minutes a day
for a year, you'll be an expert on.

Well, believe it or not, most people won't
even put out that small amount of effort.

I've always told my clients that if you spend
2 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year
studying marketing, you'll be an expert. Make
that 3-5 hours a day, 365 days a year for 7 years
and you'll be a world expert.

I've done that 7 year stint and that's why I
do what I do. Study what you do, everyday and
do something you have a passion for and
become that world expert. In 7 years you're
going to be 7 years older, no matter what you
do, so why not do something that will make you
some money or at the very least, a world expert.

Part of the problem is the procrastination
I just mentioned. But the other part of
the problem is not making a commitment to
putting DAILY effort into something.

Look, I know you have a life. I'm glad you
do! Business isn't all there is to living.

But I can also tell you that if you don't
make DAILY progress, you'll probably find
yourself off track very soon.

Honestly, I'm not sure why this is, but
there's just something magic about making
progress toward a goal every single day.

(I'm working out again, and I'm studying a
book where you get stronger and stronger
everyday, but you're only devoting like
one minute a day to working out. Now that
doesn't make sense until you read the BOOK
and once I read this book I knew that I
had found the magical way to get stronger
than I've ever been, healthier than I've
ever been, and toned better than I've ever
been, so I'll keep you informed.)

Now think about this. It doesn't have to be
huge progress. I don't even think the size of
the progress matters at all, as long as it's
progress.

All that matters is that you make a little
bit every day.

I can remember back when I was just
starting out. I had no experience, and I
didn't know what I was doing. That made it
easy to be afraid all the time.

That fear kept me from doing even the
simple things I DID know I needed to do
every day. But you know, Michael Jordan,
Tiger Woods, Oprah, they all started out
not knowing exactly what to do. All of them.

So what makes you any different?

NOTHING.

The result was that I wasn't making any
progress, and I started to wallow in a bit
of self-pity. Of course, that made the
problem worse.

The single biggest thing I did to fix the
problem was commit to spending at least 30
minutes a day on my business and three hours
marketing. Nothing fancy, just a simple commitment
to make progress every single day.

EVERY SINGLE DAY!

When I did that, I felt a TON better about
myself, and the progress started to build up.

----------
TIP 3: Expand Your Idea Network
----------

This is a HUGE thing, and I have to admit
I neglected it for years.

Running your own business can be a
lonely thing. You'll find yourself doing
almost all of your work alone, and that
tends to isolate you.

That's not healthy, but the more important
thing to know is that it'll kill your
business over time.

Instead, you always need to find ways to
meet more people, read, and educate
yourself. That keeps new ideas flowing
into your head, which can take your
business to levels you can't even imagine.

The biggest thing you can do is meet more
people like yourself. You
don't have to be a champion networker
(although that would help). All you have
to do is keep expanding the set of people
you have contact with and make sure they
are business people that understand
business.

For example, I'm having a meeting next
month with a few very successful marketers
who live in Oklahoma and TEXAS.

The purpose of our meeting is to get to
know each other better, and to brainstorm
product ideas and partnership
opportunities.

It's not a formal meeting at all, but I'll
almost guarantee we'll come up with some
fantastic ways to grow our businesses.

For years I didn't do that kind of thing.
I sort of kept to myself, for privacy if
nothing else. I was also really busy
keeping up with life.

But I can say from experience that not
expanding my contacts

1) Cut me off from meeting lots of great
people I can help, and who can help me

2) Slowed down my progress towards getting
where I am today

There's no reason you have to make the
same mistake. Get out there and meet some
people!

If you'll do that, and you'll stick to
your plan (don't let other people pull you
off into a ditch), and you'll make
progress every day, this year will be
awesome for you.

Have a fantastic weekend!
